Dialectic Behavioral Therapy - Skill Building Group

DBT programs have sprung up around the country for the last number of years and are fast becoming the treatment of choice for personality disorders, bipolar symptoms and depression. Dialectic means balanced and peaceful, and therapy based in this methodology will teach you tools to balance your emotions correctly. Behavioral therapy is included to bring action to your recovery and show you how to take responsibility for your emotional state. This group best serves those that have experienced very rocky relationships, strong mood swings, suicidal thoughts, and who have had therapy or are currently in therapy. DBT Skill Building Group will compliment your individual therapy, will focus on teaching and applying new skills to regulate your emotions, and will help you learn to stay balanced and peaceful in your relationships.

Cost: $45 per session, most insurances accepted, some scholarships available
Times: Port Huron - Saturday from 8:30-10:00AM
Clinton Township - Wednesday from 7:00-8:30PM
Duration: Ongoing, recommendation to commit to 6 months

Distress Tolerance (self soothing, radical acceptance, relaxation, Spiritual interventions to harmful emotions)
Controlling your mind (meditation, prayer, thought diffusion)
Emotional regulation (recognizing emotions, increasing your positive emotions, problem solving)
Interpersonal effectiveness (assertiveness training, negotiating, attachment, resistance and conflict coping skills)
